What makes a hand-carved frame different?
A hand-carved frame is developed around the proportions and character of the piece it surrounds. Depth, rhythm, corner treatment, and ornament can be adjusted rather than accepted as fixed catalog details. That flexibility is especially valuable for oversized mirrors, statement frames, period interiors, and artwork that needs a truly specific presentation.
Carving by hand also gives the finished surface natural variation. Instead of looking mechanically repeated, edges and details catch light in a way that makes the frame feel made, not merely assembled.
Gold leaf, silver leaf, and custom finishes
Finishing determines how the carved form reads. Gold leaf brings warmth and depth; silver leaf can feel cooler, brighter, or more contemporary. Layers of color, toning, distressing, glazing, and texture can further adjust the surface to complement artwork, metalwork, furniture, or architectural details.
Heart to Art also works with close-corner molding and prefabricated profiles when they are the right fit. The recommendation is based on the design and project requirements—not on forcing every piece into the same production method.
From raw wood to final installation
The workflow moves from design and raw carving through surface preparation, leaf or custom finish, fitting, and final inspection. Keeping those steps in-house lets us evaluate the frame as a complete object and correct details before delivery.
